Oven Won't Turn On: Causes and Fixes
An oven with a dead display usually has a power problem — a tripped breaker or a failed control board. If the display works but the oven won't respond, check for an active lock (control lock, self-clean lockout, or Sabbath mode) and reset power at the breaker.
What to Check First
- 1
Dead display: check the breaker (ovens are 240V — both legs matter) and confirm the unit is getting power.
- 2
Working display, no response: look for a Control Lock, Sabbath mode, or self-clean lockout indicator.
- 3
If a self-clean cycle was interrupted, the door latch may be stuck locked — let the oven fully cool.
- 4
Reset at the breaker for 60 seconds to clear control faults.
- 5
A failed electronic oven control (EOC) board can kill all function — suspect it if power is confirmed and no mode is active.
