ApplianceErrors.com

Editorial Policy

ApplianceErrors.com maintains a database of 656+ appliance error codes. Because our readers act on this information — often with tools in hand — accuracy is the entire product. This page explains how content gets onto the site and how it stays correct.

Where our information comes from

  • Manufacturer service documentation. Error code definitions are sourced from manufacturer service manuals, tech sheets, and official support documentation. Every code page links to the relevant manufacturer's official support portal.
  • Cross-referencing. Each code is checked against multiple independent sources — manufacturer documentation, parts databases, and established repair references — before publication.
  • Reader feedback. Every fix guide carries a "Did this guide fix your appliance?" prompt. Codes with low success rates are flagged for re-review and rewritten.

Review process

Each error code page shows a "Last verified" date. That date reflects the most recent time the page's meaning, causes, and fix steps were checked against manufacturer documentation. Pages are re-verified when manufacturers revise their documentation, when reader feedback indicates a problem, or on a rolling schedule for the most-visited pages.

What we will and won't tell you

  • We order causes by real-world frequency so you check the most likely (and cheapest) fix first.
  • We tell you when a repair is DIY-safe and when it isn't. Repairs involving gas lines, sealed refrigeration systems, or mains wiring are always flagged for professional service.
  • We never recommend calling a professional before the safe DIY checks have been exhausted — and we never hide the DIY option to sell you a service call. We have no service-call partnerships.

Corrections

Found an error? Contact us with the page URL and what's wrong. Verified corrections are published promptly and the page's "Last verified" date is updated.

Safety disclaimer

Appliance repair involves electricity, water, and sometimes gas. Always unplug the appliance before opening any panel. If you are not confident performing a step safely, stop and call a certified technician. Information on this site is provided as-is for informational purposes.
