LG Oven Error Code F11
Heat error — oven failed to reach temperature in time
The most common cause of the F11 error on a LG oven is weak/failed igniter (gas models) (~40% of cases); start with: power cycle.
What Does Error Code F11 Mean on a LG Oven?
Heat error — oven failed to reach temperature in time.
F11 is a preheat timeout: the control monitors the temperature sensor during startup and expects the cavity to climb toward roughly 150°F within about five minutes. If that rate isn't met, it assumes the heat source or feedback path is faulty and aborts. Unlike sensor-specific faults, F11 flags the outcome (no heat rise) rather than a shorted or open sensor reading, so a weak gas igniter, dead element, or a control that never energized the circuit can all trigger it.
What Causes Error Code F11?
Here are the most common causes in order of frequency. Start with the most likely cause before moving to the next:
- 1 Weak/failed igniter (gas models) 40% of cases
- 2 Temperature sensor failure 25% of cases
- 3 Bake/broil element failure (electric) 20% of cases
- 4 Control board fault 15% of cases
How to Fix LG Oven Error Code F11
- 1
Power cycle
Turn off the breaker for 5 minutes. A transient F11 from a one-time slow ignition may clear.
- 2
Test the temperature sensor
At room temperature the sensor should read ~1,080 ohms. Open or out-of-spec = replace.
🔩 Multimeter 🔩 LG oven temperature sensor ($25–$55) - 3
Inspect the igniter (gas)
Watch ignition — a glow igniter that's dim/orange and slow to light the burner is failing.
🔩 LG oven igniter ($40–$90)⚠️ Allow oven to cool and shut off gas before servicing the igniter. - 4
Inspect the element (electric)
Check the bake element for breaks or no continuity.
🔩 LG bake element ($30–$70)
How to Reset Error Code F11
Power off at the breaker for 5 minutes and retry a bake cycle. If F11 returns during preheat, test the sensor/igniter.
Note: If the error returns after resetting, the underlying issue has not been resolved. Work through the fix steps above.

When to Call a Professional
If the sensor and igniter/element all test good but F11 persists, the control board has failed.
