Bosch Dishwasher Error Code E05
Water shortage — insufficient water entering dishwasher
The most common cause of the E05 error on a Bosch dishwasher is water supply valve under sink closed or partially closed (~45% of cases); start with: check supply valve.
What Does Error Code E05 Mean on a Bosch Dishwasher?
Water shortage — insufficient water entering dishwasher.
During the fill phase the control monitors flow and expected water-level rise via the flow meter and level sensing. When water arrives too slowly or not at all within the timed window, E05 fires and the cycle pauses or aborts to protect the circulation pump from running dry. Unlike leak-related codes such as E15, E05 points upstream to supply restriction — a throttled valve, kinked hose, clogged inlet mesh, or a failed inlet valve solenoid rather than water already inside the tub.
What Causes Error Code E05?
Here are the most common causes in order of frequency. Start with the most likely cause before moving to the next:
- 1 Water supply valve under sink closed or partially closed 45% of cases
- 2 Inlet hose kinked 30% of cases
- 3 Water inlet valve solenoid failure 15% of cases
- 4 Inlet mesh filter blocked with scale 10% of cases
