Whirlpool Oven Error Code F3-E0
Oven temperature sensor open circuit
The most common cause of the F3-E0 error on a Whirlpool oven is sensor failure (open circuit) (~65% of cases); start with: test the sensor.
What Does Error Code F3-E0 Mean on a Whirlpool Oven?
Oven temperature sensor open circuit.
F3-E0 fires when the control board reads an open circuit across the oven's RTD temperature sensor, meaning no continuity between the two sensor pins. Without valid resistance feedback (normally near 1,080 ohms at room temperature), the board cannot regulate heat and disables the elements or burner for safety. This differs from F3-E1 and F3-E2, which flag a shorted sensor or out-of-range resistance rather than a fully broken connection, and from wiring-only faults you can reseat.
What Causes Error Code F3-E0?
Here are the most common causes in order of frequency. Start with the most likely cause before moving to the next:
- 1 Sensor failure (open circuit) 65% of cases
- 2 Sensor connector loose 25% of cases
- 3 Wiring harness to sensor damaged 10% of cases
How to Fix Whirlpool Oven Error Code F3-E0
- 1
Test the sensor
At room temperature, Whirlpool oven sensors read approximately 1,080–1,090 ohms. Open circuit = failed sensor.
🔩 Multimeter - 2
Check connector at sensor
Reseat the 2-pin connector.
- 3
Replace the sensor
Located in the upper-back of the oven cavity.
🔩 Whirlpool oven temperature sensor ($20–$50)⚠️ Let oven cool completely.
How to Reset Error Code F3-E0
After replacing sensor, turn on and test with a 350°F bake cycle.
Note: If the error returns after resetting, the underlying issue has not been resolved. Work through the fix steps above.
