Bosch Oven Error Code E002
Heating element failure — oven not heating
The most common cause of the E002 error on a Bosch oven is heating element burned through (visible break or blistering) (~65% of cases); start with: inspect heating element visually.
What Does Error Code E002 Mean on a Bosch Oven?
Heating element failure — oven not heating.
E002 fires when the control board commands the bake or broil element on but the temperature sensor detects no rise, or the board reads an open heating circuit. It indicates loss of continuity somewhere between the relay and the element itself — most often a burned-through element, but also a scorched harness connector or a failed control relay. It differs from sensor-fault codes like E111, which flag an out-of-range temperature reading rather than an absence of heat.
What Causes Error Code E002?
Here are the most common causes in order of frequency. Start with the most likely cause before moving to the next:
- 1 Heating element burned through (visible break or blistering) 65% of cases
- 2 Element wiring harness connection burned or loose 25% of cases
- 3 Control board relay failure 10% of cases
How to Fix Bosch Oven Error Code E002
- 1
Inspect heating element visually
Open the oven and look at the bake element (bottom) and broil element (top). A burned-through element will have a visible break, hole, or blistered area.
- 2
Test element continuity
After allowing oven to cool, disconnect element terminals and test with multimeter. Good element reads 15–30 ohms. Open circuit = failed.
🔩 Multimeter - 3
Replace the element
Unscrew the mounting screws, pull the element forward, disconnect the wires, and connect the new element.
